Events

In order to keep our students interested in Persian culture and strengthen their cultural identity, we celebrate and participate in all Persian celebrations. Alborz celebrates cultural event annually on dates according to the Persian Calendar. We celebrate:

 

  • Sepandarmazgan in February. Sepandārmazgān is an ancient Iranian day of love close to Valentine's day.
  • Nowruz in March Nowruz is the name of the Iranian New Year, also known as the Persian New Year, which is celebrated worldwide by Iranian people, along with some other ethnolinguistic groups, as the beginning of the New Year.
  • Tirgan in June or July Tirgan is a midsummer Iranian festival, celebrated annually. It is celebrated by splashing water, dancing, reciting poetry, and serving traditional foods.
  • Mehregan in September or October Mehregān is Persian festival celebrated to honor friendship, affection, and love. It is also widely referred to as the Persian Festival of Autumn.
  • Yalda in December. Shab-e Yalda ("Yalda night" Persian: شب یلدا ‎) or Shab-e Chelleh ("night of forty", Persian: شب چله ‎) is an Iranian festival celebrated on the "longest and darkest night of the year," Yalda is a winter solstice celebration, that is, in the night of the Northern Hemisphere's winter solstice.
